Using Nihongo Desk without reading Chinese

Try a realistic workflow with Japanese materials, available audio and an external English explanation.

Interface and material languages are separate

English navigation and guides help you find a task; they do not translate original textbook pages. Vocabulary-tool meanings remain Simplified Chinese. If you do not read Chinese, use a readable external gloss or explanation. Available materials vary by lesson, and an English guide does not promise an English companion for every lesson.

Use English support at the point of need

Open the Japanese passage and matching available audio, and consult your own edition-matched English companion, on paper or separately. Resolve a word or pattern, hide the explanation, and try a small task. Keep your first response and uncertainty in notes rather than translate an entire lesson.

Test a short passage before committing

Select a familiar or early lesson and verify the passage, target recording and explanation source. Read two sentences, then hear the matching segment. If you need English translations of every page, obtain that support elsewhere; if you need audio and notes, test those actions directly.

Example

Trial goal: find the meeting time in two Japanese sentences and confirm it in the recording without depending on unreadable Chinese meanings.

Check your understanding

Record which materials are here and which explanations come from your own English book.

Explanation

Identify your support sources and finish one task. Distinguish a material that is not available from a failed load.
