Choosing after Minna Elementary
Check the explanation language, try a sample page and consider what feedback is available before choosing your next course.
Define the missing skill and support
Decide whether you need longer reading, sustained listening, connected output or beginner-form repair. Chukyu continues the series but still needs usable support. A reputation for QUARTET or Tobira does not establish that you can complete its sample task. These alternatives are outside the site’s shelf.
Identify the edition before a sample trial
Distinguish Tobira’s older Gateway, revised Intermediate and Beginning series before a trial. Check the publisher title and available samples. Read a short section for information, then try a related listening or expression task. Do not assume unverified chapter equivalence from a shared label.
Keep one main route and one targeted supplement
If a dense sample is hard after N4, separate vocabulary, clause relations and task instructions, then shorten it. When class continues Chukyu, add one reading task rather than a second full syllabus. Before switching to graded reading alone, test learned connections and references too.
Example
Trial sheet: exact title | readable support | first information answer | form gap | next action. Choose from support and task evidence rather than a higher-level reputation.
Check your understanding
Try the same small information task on two official samples and compare needed support.
Explanation
A supportable task provides a concrete choice reason, limited to the actual trial conditions.
Find your question
- After Minna Elementary II, how should I compare Chukyu, Quartet, and Tobira if I still need English support?
- My class moves to Chukyu but I want more reading. Can a second resource target that gap without a second full syllabus?
- A Tobira sample is too dense although I passed N4. What should I test before deciding the book is wrong for me?
- I want to leave textbooks for graded reading. What task shows whether I need an intermediate grammar bridge first?
