Checking whether to move to the next lesson

Check understanding, independent answers and a changed situation, then practise the parts you have not yet mastered.

Check tasks rather than replay counts

Explain key information from a small lesson segment, attempt one pattern task independently and respond to a changed cue. Fluent familiar reading or memorised audio shows familiarity, not transfer. When output is blocked, repair one short response before automatically repeating the entire lesson.

Choose local repair or a broader step back

If two particles remain weak, retain the examples for later rechecks while continuing manageable new material. Step back more when basic meaning, core forms and information listening all fail independently. Do not impose one accuracy threshold on every learner.

Track class progress and gaps separately

When class must continue, preview key words, one main pattern and one precise question. Keep an old-error reattempt after class. Record the class location separately from independently manageable tasks; they need not be identical. Follow perfect familiar answers with changed cues.

Example

Check log: time understood, fixed task correct, new invitation blocked at the follow-up; practise asking the time rather than label the entire lesson unknown.

Check your understanding

Record one independently manageable task and one task for rechecking.

Explanation

Keep the old gap in the next schedule; success on a familiar item does not justify removing every recheck.
