How far should you practice self-introductions?

Without reading a script, give your name, nationality and role, then answer a question confirming your role. Change a name or occupation and try again to check that you can change information rather than recite the passage. You do not need a long fluent conversation in lesson 1. Record uncertain pronunciation or wording and check the audio or seek outside feedback.

Original practice example: 「私は林です。中国人です。学生です。」 means “I am Lin. I am Chinese. I am a student.” Use your own true information, then answer 「学生ですか」. A student can say 「はい、学生です」; otherwise, say 「いいえ、学生ではありません」 and add a role you have learned.

Complete this small task by introducing yourself, confirming a role and changing one piece of information without prompts. Try again after another study session. If you can only read aloud, shorten it to two sentences. Review forgotten words or the companion explanation as needed; one correct attempt does not prove mastery of the whole lesson.
